Blusher is an instant way to give your looks a lift, it helps to give your complexion a bloom of colour. However, its old-fashioned to use blusher to sculpt your face, as it looks so unnatural. Instead, it should be applied in the way it was first intended to be used – to recreate a youthful flush. Therefore, choosing the perfect blusher to important if you want to achieve a natural look. POWDER BLUSHER
This should be applied over the top of your foundation and face powder. To apply powder blusher, dust over the compact with a large soft brush. If you have taken too much on to your brush, tap the handle on the back of your hand to remove the excess. It’s better to waste a little blusher than to apply too much! A good guide is to use half as much blusher and twice as much blending as you first think you need.

Start applying the colour on the fullest parts of your cheeks, directly below the centre of your eyes. Then smile and dust the blusher over your cheekbones and up towards your temples. Blend the colour well towards the hairline so you avoid harsh edges. This ill effectively place colour where you would naturally blush.

CREAM BLUSHER

Breaking all the traditional beauty rules, cream blusher is applied with your fingertips. Its put on after foundation and before face powder. It drops out of fashion from time to time, but its never long before it makes a comeback. This is for good reason, as it can give a lovely fresh glow to every skin type.

To apply, dab a few dots of cream blusher over your cheeks, from the plump part up towards your cheekbone. Using your fingertips, blend well. Build up the effect gradually, adding more blusher to create just the look you want. Or, if you prefer, you can use a foundation wedge to blend in cream blusher.
